Neighborhood Housing Services Of Southern Nevada Inc

  • 1849 Civic Center Dr, North Las Vegas, 89030 (Directions)

OUR MISSION

NHSSN creates and fosters partnerships with residents, business leaders, and governmental entities. Our goal is to help low- to moderate-income individuals and families in Nevada attain affordable housing. We pursue this goal by creating homeownership opportunities through the development of affordable housing, homeownership education, and neighborhood revitalization.

OUR VISION

The vision of NHSSN is to build better neighborhoods, block by block.

OUR GOALS

Goal 1: Increase agency financial stability and strength.

Goal 2: Continue to create and maintain affordable housing options for our community.

Goal 3: Sustain educational and counseling activities in our community.

Goal 4: Create and expand new and existing partnerships.

Goal 5: Develop safe, stable neighborhoods.

FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES

NHSSN hosts three to four fundraising events annually. The Home Is Where the Heart Is gala along with a golf event, Fairway to Housing, and its newest event, This is How We Roll, an evening of cosmic bowling. These funds raised are used to offset the cost of programs, as well as raise awareness for affordable housing and homeownership opportunities.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Due to the nature of NHSSN programs and the certification and training requirements for counseling services, volunteer opportunities are limited. NHSSN has a committee called Community Building & Engagement. The volunteer committee members serve the community and truly have “boots on the ground” to help with neighborhood clean-ups, annual pancake breakfasts in collaboration with the City of North Las Vegas Fire Department, and their annual giveback, Winter Wonderland, a food drive giveaway during the December holiday season. Other opportunities include preparing for and helping during annual fundraising events.

GIVING OPPORTUNITIES

NHSSN encourages our community to learn more about the need for affordable housing. The State of Nevada has a shortfall of 85,000 affordable housing units for working individuals and families, which directly correlates to the work NHSSN does. NHSSN’s lines of business continue to expand and today they are working toward a capital campaign to identify and acquire a larger office facility for our current staff. There are several ways of giving back, with opportunities including:

  • Visiting the NHSSN website (mynhssn.org/donate) and clicking on the donation button for a direct donation to NHSSN or through Smith’s Inspiring Donations.

  • Requesting funds from your donor-advised fund be donated through Network for Good (networkforgood.org/donate).
