In every election, at every level, there is debate over how much the candidates should engage in debates. The conventional wisdom holds that the candidate leading in the polls should avoid debates because of the risk of embarrassing herself. The candidate in the lead has more to lose than to gain in a debate.

Louis Farrakhan used a recent speech at Howard University to berate Mayor Oscar Goodman for what Farrakhan said was his poor treatment of President Barack Obama.
"Here's the president of the United States," Farrakhan said. "He makes a statement about people losing their homes and whatnot, gambling, and then his flight, his plane stops in Las Vegas. And the little Jewish mayor wouldn't even come out to greet him."

Geothermal energy is an obvious fit in Northern Nevada, a region teeming with underground reservoirs of 300-degree brine waiting to be harnessed as electricity. In some places, the scalding water bubbles to the surface unaided. In dirt-dry Southern Nevada, geothermal energy seems like a stretch.

Permanent jobs created: 5. That’s not a typo.
