A Las Vegas pool contractor that’s the subject of at least 24 consumer and subcontractor complaints has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation.
The filing was made last week by Aquascape Pool & Spa, 1911 S. Rainbow Blvd.
On Friday, the Nevada State Contractors board said it suspended Aquascape Pool & Spa’s license (No. 0038797) after the agency received 15 workmanship or abandonment of project complaints from homeowners; and nine complaints from subcontractors saying they had not been paid.
The Contractors Board said affected homeowners may have the opportunity to seek financial recourse through the Board’s Residential Recovery Fund.
Information is available at the board’s website.
The bankruptcy filing was made by Aquascape’s parent company New Trends Development LLC, headed by owner Julio Schembari Jr.
The bankruptcy filing includes entities that have done business under the names Chris Aquascape Pool & Spa, Aquascape Pools and Aquascape Pools and Spas.
The filing listed about $61,000 in assets against liabilities of $1.2 million.
Numerous employees are listed as creditors for unpaid wages and thousands of more dollars are owed to the IRS, subcontractors, suppliers and pool customers.
The biggest claims appear to be for American Pool Supply, owed $150,000; and to an individual for an injury settlement. That claim is for nearly $370,000.
Creditors interested in filing a claim in the bankruptcy case may want to talk to an attorney or see the bankruptcy court’s website.
