Lisa and Tim Anderson have worked in the cemetery and funeral industry for more than 20 years. In that time, they discovered a void that could be filled in memorial upkeep, and so in 2016, they launched Headstone Cleaners. "With most cemeteries not providing a memorial-cleaning service, we decided it would be a great way to help families," Tim Anderson said.

Describe your business.

Headstone Cleaners is a family-owned memorial cleaning and restoration business. We offer new memorials, memorial maintenance services, and engraving of granite and other surfaces.

Who are your customers?

The majority of our customers are the families of loved ones buried in and around the Las Vegas area. With the engraving services that we also offer, our customers are not limited. We like to try and help all people, so whether it is a memorial to honor a loved one or an address engraved on stone, we can help.

What kind of products and tools do you use for your restorations?

We use a variety of products, as different memorials or circumstances may call for different things. All of our paints used for memorial restorations have been specifically designed for stone. As for our engravings, we sand-carve, making it possible to produce deep, clean carvings or even etchings.

Do you see any expansion in the future?

Currently we are a locally based in Las Vegas and provide our services to the surrounding areas. We see having a shop in the near future as we grow.

What is your business philosophy?

We treat every memorial as if it were one of our loved ones. Grieving the loss of a loved one has to be one of the hardest parts of life, so we want the families to have one less thing to worry about. Memorializing your loved ones is one of the ways we can keep our family heritage alive for several years to come.

What is the best part about doing business in Las Vegas?

The people. Las Vegas is a great city that’s full of many different cultures. We enjoy learning about all of them and being able to help preserve their families' heritage.

What obstacles has your business overcome?

Thankfully, we have not yet had any major obstacles to face, but with the goal to have a complete memorial and engraving shop, we can only expect things to come. As for now, we started out as a very small headstone-cleaning business, and have grown to be a complete mobile monument shop.

What’s the best business advice you’ve received?

Not sure we can say that we have received any business advice, but over the many years of working, we found that honesty and friendliness is how most any person would like to be treated. So we strive to provide the best customer service possible.
