Campaign Challenges UNLV to Take Back the Tap Campaign
Advertisement
The Take Back the Tap (TBTT) campaign at UNLV will be featured at the campus’s annual Festival Of Communities. Take Back the Tap is working on campus to reduce dependence on plastic water bottles, and educate all visitors to the campus about the benefits of choosing tap water for your health, your wallet, and the environment.
Who: The Take Back the Tap (TBTT) campaign is spearheaded by Monica Garcia, currently a senior at UNLV, and the campaign is an initiative of Food & Water Watch, a national non-profit consumer group. Monica has gathered more than 500 petitions from professors, students and faculty on campus supporting her campaign throughout the last year.
What: TBTT will be at a booth next to the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) UNLV Chapter in a shared effort to educate people attending the event about sustainability. Special event hydration stations will be introduced at this year’s Festival of Communities, due in large part to Monica’s efforts to promote the campaign within the UNLV administration.
Where: Pida Plaza at UNLV. Parking is free anywhere on campus
When: Saturday, April 21 from 11 am to 6pm
Available for queries: Monica Garcia, current student at UNLV and coordinator of the university’s Take Back the Tap program on-campus
Visuals: Take Back the Tap booth and display, the USGBC Reusable Building Structure featuring a visual representation of plastic water bottle use by the average American, and Special Event Hydration Stations in use throughout the all-day event
