***Celebrities, adoptable older dogs walk Nevada SPCA’s red carpet at Champagne & High Tea event
**Fundraiser spotlights unique bond between long-time shelter residents, adoptive parents
LAS VEGAS—Several of the city’s top entertainers, celebrities and other animal lovers will walk the red carpet with highly eligible older canines at the opening of Nevada SPCA’s second annual Champagne and High Tea social this Thursday, April 26, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Spanish Trails Country Club.
“The wise, gentle love from senior animals is every bit as unconditional and powerful as the love from puppies and kittens,” says Doug Duke, Nevada SPCA’s executive director. “Many adopters strongly believe that their new family members also exhibit deep gratitude, and an understanding that they are being saved. This event is designed to call attention to the special gifts senior animals give their adoptive parents, and we’re optimistic that it will result in some of our long-time residents finding forever homes with loving local individuals and families.”
Advance reservations are available for $150 per person or $1,200 for a table of 10 from Marlene Franklin at 702-496-9248. The event is being hosted by Cadillac of Las Vegas. Other sponsors include Town Square Las Vegas, Nevada Coin & Jewelry, Bettie Page, and the Las Vegas Review-Journal and View newspapers.
Celebrities scheduled to attend or perform include:
-Actress Charisma Carpenter, who will serve as master of ceremonies at the event. Carpenter starred in “The Expendables” and ABC's “The Lying Game,” and as Cordelia on the long-running WB network series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”;
-Former Las Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman;
Anthony Crivello, Kristi Holden and Kristen Hertzenberg, stars of “Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular”;
-Extreme artist Jean Francois Detaille, who will paint former Mayor Goodman's portrait;
-Actress and singer Aubrey O’Day of “The Apprentice”;
-Actor Travis Cloer of “Jersey Boys”;
-Pianists Philip Fortenberry and Jonathan Gorst; and
-Local media personalities Alicia Jacobs, Ashlee Demartino, Kim Wagner, Dayna Roselli, Jason Feinberg, Chrissi Scinta, Melanie & Michael, and Shawn Tempesta.
