Operation Medicine Cabinet Joins Saturday's National Drug Take Back Day

HENDERSON, Nev. – April 27, 2012 - The Drug Enforcement Administration has partnered withlocal law enforcement and Roseman University of Health Sciences College of Pharmacy for Operation Medicine Cabinet, in conjunction with the Administration’s 4th National Drug Take Back Day.
Unused and expired drugs may be dropped off anonymously and with no-questions-asked for safe disposal during the one-day, drive-throughevent from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 at the following locations:
LVMPD Northwest Area Command – 9850 W Cheyenne Ave.
LVMPD Enterprise Area Command – 6975 W Windmill Ln.
LVMPD South Central Area Command – 4860 Las Vegas Blvd S.
LVMPD South East Area Command – 3675 E Harmon Ave.
Henderson PD – Galleria at Sunset, 1300 W. Sunset Road
North Las Vegas PD Washburn Station – 3755 W Washburn Road
Nellis AFB BX – 5930 Rickenbacker Rd.
Mesquite PD – 695 Mayan Cir.
To help curb the misuse and abuse of prescription and over-the-counter drugs, all Southern Nevada residents are encouraged to participate. To date, Operation Medicine Cabinet has collected more than 2 million million oral doses of medications, helping keep them out of the wrong hands.

Operation Medicine Cabinet was created in February 2010 by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and Roseman University of Health Sciences (formerly University of Southern Nevada) to combat prescription and over-the-counter misuse and abuse. Operation Medicine Cabinet events have been supported by the Clark County Coroner’s Office, Las Vegas Metropolitan Water District, Narcotics Education Foundation of Nevada, RX DrugSafe, Pain in the Drain, Southern Nevada Health District, 8 News Now, Drug Enforcement Administration and local law enforcement.
