May passenger counts at McCarran International Airport were the highest for any month in 2013. The Clark County Aviation Department today said 3.8 million people passed through the gates of Las Vegas’ airport, a 2.6 percent increase over May 2012.
Two people were killed Sunday in an airplane crash outside of Boulder City after the plane reportedly lost engine power in flight. Authorities responded to the crash at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, about four miles west of Boulder City Municipal Airport.
Gerald Gardner, the governor’s chief of staff, told the Nevada Senate Finance Committee on June 2 that he “disagrees that there is disparity in the distribution of (highway) construction money (between Clark County and the rest of the state).”
Southwest Airlines was operating normally Saturday afternoon after a system-wide computer failure caused it to ground 250 flights for nearly three hours late Friday night.
The government is moving toward easing restrictions on airline passengers using electronic devices to listen to music, play games, read books, watch movies and work during takeoffs and landings, but it could take a few months.

This weekend’s Electric Daisy Carnival will draw tens of thousands of revelers to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. But before attendees can shake their fuzzy boots while listening to dance music from some of the world’s top DJs, they’ll have to contend with the crush of traffic that has become a regular companion to the annual festival.
It’s FAST. And it’s designed to help motorists go faster. FAST, the Freeway and Arterial System of Transportation, is the nerve center of the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada’s traffic monitoring system. Thirty-five employees share space with the Nevada Highway Patrol and Transportation Department to manage the valley's streets and highways. They adjust traffic signal wait times to move cars more efficiently and notify motorists of freeway travel times.
Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air is raising its fees for changing a flight itinerary and will require passengers to give the airline a week’s notice for changes beginning in October.
