Joe Downtown: Newly installed fencing cuts off free parking in oft-used lot

Parking choices in downtown Las Vegas just got a bit slimmer. The free parking lot at Ogden Avenue and Sixth Street, owned by a doctor from Arkansas, was fenced over the weekend with signs warning vehicles parking there would be towed.

For commuters lacking coins, the city has found a way to swipe parking fees – one credit or debit card at a time. Installation began Tuesday on the first of 233 multibay parking meters that can accept coins, debit and credit cards.

School buses running late; no cause for concern, district says
