Links are what newspapers do not understand. Most the people being sued by Righthaven had linked to the source and sent traffic to the newspapers sites and for the reward they were sued by Righthaven.
Newspapers think blogs siting them is hurting their business but in reality these links have been instrumental in keeping them afloat in the Internet age.
My guess is that some entity related to the Stephens Family bought the domain.
Being a day late or not showing up at all is the norm with Righthaven not the exception. They always have the same lame excuses. Just like they abused copyright law they are now abusing the deference that Judges tend to give lawyers.
If they do not show up again someone may want to check to make sure Steve and "Drizzle" Gibson have not skipped town or the country.
It isn't just the copyrights that RIghthaven is refusing to hand over. Trademarks as well as their much ballyhooed search software and other assets are still being withheld. It seems like a contempt charge is imminent if not worse.
Steve Gibson has been telling us all along that the appeals courts will swoop in and save the day. Now at least one appeal has been thrown out because Righthaven can't even abide by very simple court instructions.
Steve Gibson better show up for his court date on the 5th of January. Seeing they have missed almost all their court dates lately I wouldn't be surprised if they miss this one too. If not Gibson will be a fugitive from justice.
All I can say about Righthaven is, "NYA NYA NYA NYA NYA!" :-p
Its up to 1100 already.
It makes you wonder why Righthaven has not yet filed for bankruptcy protection? Since filing bankruptcy requires a company to fully disclose its finances it is possible this information could put both Steve Gibson and Stephens Media in even further legal jeopardy this keeping Righthaven from filing.
Oh the poetic justice that Righthaven would lose their domain name when they unlawfully threatened to take the domains of their victims.
boftx
I should say some newspapers do not understand them. Other papers like the Las Vegas Sun have thrived in the Internet age because they take advantage of the opportunities. It is rags like the LVRJ who miss the days of being the only game in town. They hate the competition the Internet brings and fail to see the potential.
